Antique Bed Warmer
Appears to be of English origin.
Late 18th century brass or copper bed warmer with great patina wood handles.
They are great for hanging on the wall or next to a fireplace.
This bed warmer is in as found original condition with a nicely engraved lid.
The pan harkens back to “the good old days” when your servant would put hot coals in the pan
then slide it under the bed covers to make it toasty for you to enjoy a pleasant night’s sleep.
Examine the surface for elaborate design work, such as pierced patterns in the copper,
not just age markings.
These were of the kind that were made for the wealthy, or the homeowners.
The more decorative or worn the metal, the older it tends to be.
